Entrepreneurship Courses are More Popular in the UK Than Ever Before

A new study has shown Turner Little that entrepreneurship courses have now become more popular in the UK than ever before.

Popular online courses

Learning and teaching marketplace Udemy has recently released research on UK online course enrolment. The study showed that 400,000 Britons enrolled on online entrepreneurship courses last year. This is a 200% increase on the year beforewith internet-based entrepreneurship programmes becoming the fasting growing UK course category of the 133 surveyed by Udemy.

The Udemy research showed that entrepreneurship is now the fifth most popular type of course in the UK behind courses in ‘web development,’ ‘programming languages,’ ‘mobile apps’ and ‘design tools.’ The number of people who enrolled on any ‘home business’ courses rose by 167% in 2015.

Growing army of entrepreneurs

Udemy also looked at which type of online entrepreneurship courses were most popular with UK learners. The courses which received the highest enrolment figures focused on ‘strategy and success.’ A variety of programmes on topics from ‘building a brand’ to ‘launching ideas’ also proved popular with online UK learners in 2015.

Commenting on the release of the study, Udemy CEO Dennis Yang was quoted by Start-ups, an online business publication, saying: “People are feeling insecure about the traditional jobs market and want to take control of their careers.

“One way they’re doing that is by starting their own businesses. That’s where online learning can accelerate the process, allowing aspiring British entrepreneurs to develop the skills they need at their own time and pace. Empowered with the right skill set, the UK’s army of entrepreneurs is only set to get stronger.”
